Clive Cussler is an American adventure novelist and successful marine archeologist.   He has had more than 17 consecutive titles reach the New York Times fiction bestseller list.  He began writing 1964 and his first two novels, The Mediterranean Caper and Iceberg were typical maritime thrillers; however, his third book titled Raise the Titanic! established his literary reputation.  In 2005 Paramount pictures released the film adapted version of Sahara, starring Mathew McConaughey as Dirk Pitt, Penelope Cruz, and Steve Zahn.

Born in Illinois, Cussler was raised in California.  He attended Pasadena City college and after two years enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean War. In 1955 He married Barbara Knight and they remained married until her death in 2003.  Together they had three children named Teri, Dirk and Dana. Cussler is a member of the Explorer’s Club of New York, The Royal Geographic Society, and the American Society of Oceanographers.

Gabriel Garcia Marquez is a critically acclaimed novelist and the recipient of the 1982 Nobel Prize in Literature.   His second novel, One Hundred Years in Solitude, is originally written in the Spanish language and is a bestselling novel.  In addition, a number of his novels have been adapted into films.  Most recently, Mike Newell (Four Weddings and a Funeral) has begun production on Garcia Marquez’s Love in the Time of Cholera.

Originally born in the town of Aracataca, Magdalena, Gabriel Garcia Marquez was left by his parents to be raised by his grandparents. He eventually went on the study journalism and law at the National University of Colombia.  In 1999, Garcia Marquez was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer and he now spends most of time in Mexico City.
