D in literature at Oxford.&amp;nbsp; He died on September 24, 1991 at the age of 87.

In 1955 He married Barbara Knight and they remained married until her death in 2003.&amp;nbsp; Together they had three children named Teri, Dirk and Dana. Cussler is a member of the Explorer’s Club of New York, The Royal Geographic Society, and the American Society of Oceanographers.&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;
